The KS8721SLI is a 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, and100BASE-FX physical layer transceiver providing MII/RMII interfaces to MACs and switches. Using a uniquemixed-signal design that extends signaling distance whilereducing power consumption, the KS8721SLI repre-sents Micrel’s fourth generation single-port Fast EthernetPHY.Micrel’s architecture dissipates an ultra-low 275mW inpower, including transmit output drivers. The KS8721SLI translates toincreased reliability while enabling deployment in today’spower-sensitive applications. Multiple power-down modes,accessed via configuration pins or registers, allow furtherlevels of power saving through manual selection or auto-matic detection of cable energy. The KS8721SLI applications: LAN on Motherboard, Cable/DSL Modem, Media Converter, Network Printer, Set-Top Box and Game Console.
